Planetoid template

The planetoid template is a 98-room area with no room descriptions. The rooms are all interconnected, allowing movement.

Room 0 is an immroom, as usual, and can also be used as a mob chute.

Rooms 01-74 are 'surface' rooms, forming a sphere. It wraps around, so you can walk endlessly around the planetoid by going east or west, while north and south take you to other latitudes.

Rooms 75-92 are 'flying' rooms. By default, their terrain type is 'space', so they can be visited by ships, although you could give them the 'in air' flag instead, to allow flying players.

Rooms 93-98 are 'in space near the planetoid' rooms. The ones that would be connected to the rest of the WH 'space' map, when you move away from the planetoid in question.

Room 99 is spare. Woo.

Maps to help you use the template are reproduced below... best explained with an example. Because the planetoid narrows near the poles, there are less 'rooms' making up the higher latitudes. Thus, going north from 6 or 7 will get you to room 2... but since "there can be only one" destination south from room 2, the arrows are included, to show it goes to room 6. And so on, over the whole planetoid. Something similar has been done with the further reduced number of rooms in the sky. Don't worry about it... all you need to do is come up with 74 'on the surface' type room descriptions, and a smaller batch for when players are flying above. Rooms start with a short name such as 'on the equator' to remind you where they are, but their ldesc is simply "xxx". Change them all. If you decide there is a canyon or an ocean, etc., preventing movement in a certain direction, simply purge the exit. (Presumably in both directions.)

Have fun... and make us some planets, people!

The planetoid template was used to model the surface of the Death Star in the Battle of Yavin 4. It was also used by Ecks to create Planet Tatooine. Future zones using the template are welcomed! One idea involves using the template 'inside out' (no mods necessary except to remove the 'up' exits to outer space) to create a Dyson Sphere. (If you don't know what a Dyson Sphere is, look up a Star Trek TNG episode called 'Relics'.)
